What To Expect

Haro
The Barrio de la Estación de Haro is known for the many wineries that were built here, close to the railroad tracks in order to transport wine barrels more easily. Here we’ll visit a wonderful 100-year old winery where we’ll taste a selection of its best wines, from the most classic to the most young and daring, aligned with the latest and most revolutionary trends. Wine is not the only magical liquid that’s produced in these lands. As Rioja is also one of the northernmost points in Spain where the country's liquid gold (olive oil) is produced, we’ll do a tasting of a delicious extra virgin olive oil (here we call it AOVE, the acronym for aceite de oliva virgen extra in Spanish).

Briones
It’s time to visit two charming villages. First, San Vicente de la Sonsierra, built on top of a hill (centuries ago, these lands full of danger, so much so that the villages had to be sheltered in inaccessible places). From here we’ll have unbeatable views over the Ebro river, the sea of vines and the hills that dot this valley so altered by the human hand. Next we’ll go on to Briones in search of a bit of authenticity: streets suspended in the past, an imposing Gothic church and old sandstone buildings, in what is one of our favorite towns in northern Spain.

30 minutes • Admission Ticket Free

Samaniego
Next, we’ll visit a small family winery that will explain not only its working method but that of many other similar businesses (independent, courageous and simple in structure) that add great value to Spanish wine culture. This one in particular produces some of the most prestigious wines in the country, a fact that you can check (and judge) when you have a chance to taste the fruits of their labor.

1 hours • Admission Ticket Free

Labastida
In La Rioja, lunchtime (and gastronomy, of course) is a sacred thing. For this reason, we’ll go to a restaurant that specializes in traditional Riojan cuisine, a delicious menu and, check this out, more excelent local wine!

We had the best time learning about rioja with Ania! Enjoyed all of the delicious wine and food and the beautiful scenery!
Incredible Rioja experience

What a fabulous excursion this is. We had a wonderful day with Ania.
We were collected from our hotel, and taken to Bodega Conde de los andres, for our tour and first wine tastings of the day. The tour was very informative and different from any we’ve done before. We then went to LaGuardia a beautiful Spanish village with incredible scenery.
We had 2 more wine tastings before having lunch. Ania took us to a restaurant in Bastida where we were welcomed like locals. The food was delicious.
The whole day was made lovely by Ania and it felt like we were spending the day with a friend, it was such good fun. She was very knowledgeable and shared with us history of Rioja and the Basque Country. I wouldn’t hesitate to take another excursion with Ania or Ikusnahi Tours.
Fantastic wine tasting and food in Rioja

Fantastic full day wine and good tasting experience in Rioja.
We were picked up directly from our hotel with a comfortable air conditioned car. Our tour guide Ania was superb; knowledgeable and professional. The tour was created and tailored for us based on our interests.
The drive to Haro, Rioja took only 1h 20min and we had several opportunities to view small mediaeval villages, stunning scenery and local life.
During the tour we visited 3 outstanding smaller wineries in Haro and Laguardia regions, made several stops to explore and view old churches, architectural marvels such as Frank Gehry’s Marquis de Riscal etc. The delicious lunch took place in a local tavern Ajoi. Food was very tasty.
I can’t recommend both the private Rioja tour and Ikusnahi tours more! They were exceptional from the beginning to the end! This is a must!
Amazing guided tour of Rioja with Diego

We had an incredible day with Diego! He picked us up right on time in a nice van and drove us out to the region. He was extremely knowledgeable about the wine and all of Spain actually. We went to a few different vineyards and wineries where they all greeted Diego like family which gave us an even better experience. We couldn't recommend this trip more and you should definitely request Diego for the best experience!
All the reviews are true - this is an excellent tour
