What To Expect

Prado National Museum
Spain’s most important gallery and one of the first of the world. An interesting tour, in a relaxed tone, which will allow you to maintain concentration with ease and which will be fun. At the same time you receive accurate information, historically correct from the tour guides, who are in the majority historians and historians of art.

Starting from your hotel, the guide will accompany you to the gallery, giving you some history on the streets you walk down, the history of the city or the history of the Museo del Prado. Once there, you won’t have to wait in the queue and will be able to enter directly. During the tour you will have the opportunity to see and understand some of the most relevant works of all time in the Western world. Bosch, Rafael, Titian, El Greco, Velazquez, Rubens or Goya are some of the main artists of the gallery. Without doubt the most universally well known: The Garden Of Delights, Las Meninas y Las Pinturas Negras, will be central to the tour.

Of course, also you will have the opportunity to receive advice about the best tapas bars, restaurants, or recommendations on what you can do in Madrid (there’s plenty)

Key Paintings of the Prado with a Knowledgeable Guide
Ralph_B, 26-09-2022
Jamie took us on a 3-hour private tour of The Prado, focusing on the main paintings of interest and providing us with an in depth history and perspective of each. He is very knowledgeable and we enjoyed our time together.

Our guide, David, was great- an Art History major who was extremely knowledgeable. It was heavy on the history side but incorporated so well with the paintings we saw. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Ages 18-50
Fascinating Tour of Magnificant Works of Art

Make sure you read your email from your tour guide in advance!

There was a little confusion in the beginning, as the advertisement that one is "picked up at from the hotel" really means your guide will meet you at your hotel and you will walk to the museum. Or, you can meet your guide at the museum. This was clearly explained in an email, but unfortunately, I didn't check my email until 10 minutes before Jamie was scheduled to arrive. So, Jamie met us in the lobby. Walking from our hotel wasn't really practical, but because of the confusion, Jaime insisted and very generously paid for the cab fare.

We arrived at the museum as it opened and Jaime gave us a wonderful and unforgettable tour. He took us immediately to van der Weden's "Descent from the Cross" because "it gets crowded very quickly", and we had the room to ourselves. Jaime explained the intrinsic characteristics of the painting with such clarity. We got so much more out of it because of what he shared with us.

I'm delighted to say Jaime had so much fascinating information on the masterpieces we visited, I'm still rather moved by the experience as I type this. I can only recommend this tour to anyone interested in learning what interesting discoveries there are behind some beautiful pieces of art. Thank you Jaime!
A great day at the Prado

This was the perfect tour of the Prado. It was just our family and our incredibly knowledgeable guide, David. My kids saw and learned so much about some of the greatest artists in history. Don’t miss the Black Paintings and Bosch’s work.
