What To Expect

Plaza de la Villa
Your tapas adventure begins in Plaza de la Villa, the old main square in central Madrid. You will get a brief introduction to the city and its tapas credentials.

15 minutes • Admission Ticket Free

Mercado San Miguel
We will then head towards Mercado de San Miguel, the first gourmet market in all of Spain, for the first of many food tastings. Here we’ll start with an aperitivo, what else?! We’ll try traditional vermouth and we’ll taste some of Spain’s most succulent olives too.

Spain is a well-known cheese producing nation, offering the world such cheesy delights as manchego, mahonand idizabal. We’ll try some delicious Spanish cheese, alongsidea glass of wine of course at one of the best cheese stalls in the market.

45 minutes • Admission Ticket Free

La Latina
Next, we’ll head to the pulsating barrio of La Latina to explore its narrow lanes and fascinating history. This neighbourhood is ultra trendy right now and is popular with locals for its vibrant food and drink scene. We will visit a tiny, off the beaten path restaurant that is well known for their traditional tapas dishes - with a fusion twist. This tiny spot only has 6 tables so it’s always busy and it has a great atmosphere!

60 minutes • Admission Ticket Free

Plaza Mayor
Our next stop is Plaza Mayor where we'll chat about the city’s history and food culture.

We will try the iconic bocadillo de calamares, the famous sandwich of the city. To wash it down, we’ll try some local beer too! We’ll also try some of Madrid’s most famous croquettes at a heritage tavern that was originally built in 1860 and only specializes in these special potato treats.

40 minutes • Admission Ticket Free

Puerta del Sol
After that, we’ll cross Puerta del Sol, one of the most iconic spots of Madrid and finish our tapas adventure with a local dessert and sweet wine in yet another historic location. This joint has been run by the same family for over 100 years, serving a traditional Spanish dessert that might just remind you of something familiar.

Once you’ve finished your dessert, your guide will take you back to Puerta del Sol, where they can help you out with directions back to your accommodation or ideas on where to go next!

Jose the best tour guide
Zai, 17-09-2022
Jose from Toledo was our tour guide and he was knowledgeable and passionate about the history, explaining along the way while providing great tapas and drinks! When asked random questions about the history he showed a varied and discret knowledge only a real local would know. I would 19 our of 10 recommend him as a tour guide and this tour as a crash course of madrid
Terrific tapas with running commentary from a local guide

I really enjoyed this tapas tour around the center of Madrid. The food was very tasty so bring your appetite. Also, our guide was very knowledgeable. She shared with us a lot of terrific info about local food, wine, Madrid, and Spain in general. The atmosphere was relaxed. Highly recommend.
Tapas Adventure Tour with Tapas Adventure with Natalia

We had a wonderful evening with Natalia , our Tapas Adventure Tour Guide. This was a private tour ( just my wife & I) and it was more than just a tapas hoping tour but rather a historical perspective of the many architectural buildings & monuments along the way. Natalia has a wealth of knowledge and in addition to the non touristy authentic tapa bars we visited, Natalia was certainty the highlight of our evening, engaging in great conversation while sharing her in-depth knowledge of Madrid and Spain.

This is a tour not to be missed if your interest is in a bit of history while also experiencing and appreciating the authenticity of Madrid without a large group. The intimate experience with Natalia is one that we will remember for year to come.
Best food experience in Madrid - great value for money - loads of fun

I LOVED every aspect of the tour.
This was absolutely the best way to experience the fascinating history of Madrid while feasting on the delicious local food and drink.
We learnt so much and had such fun, Phillip the guide took us on a wonderful journey, it was as if we were a small group of friends just happily wandering the city together.

Don’t eat beforehand as you get SO much food and drink on this tour you will be wishing you had space for more, so it is also great value for money.
Phillip is an absolutely brilliant guide and a credit to Urban Adventures/Intrepid. This was a memorable experience I will keep for a lifetime.
Very much enjoyed the tour!

A great Tapas Tour. First time in Madrid and wanted to see more than usual tourist sites so booked onto this tour on our second evening of our trip. We visited 5 different Tapas spots with food and drink included at each stop. The guide was very informative and provided an interesting insight into the history of each place we visited, and the importance of Tapas to the culture of the Spanish people. He made us laugh with funny stories of the locals. and also provided us with some great options of other "local" places to visit during our time in the city. We met some great people on the tour which we ended up staying with for the rest of the evening, enjoying even more Tapas and wine. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and felt it was great value for money.
