El Cason del Buen Retiro
The Cason del Buen Retiro Museum is located in one of two surviving buildings that survived the destruction of the royal palace.
The building was designed by the architect Alonso Carbonella in 1637. The project was originally conceived as a ballroom palace for Philip IV. In 1971, the building became part of the Prado Museum and keeps in its halls collections of paintings and sculptures of the 15th-19th centuries.
